Werners always been a good place to get a Truck. I’d be more focused on the Brand and especially the engine specific emissions systems. Along with any emission repairs or maintenance that’s been done. Do research before buying. They all have their own unique problems. Some more than others.

 

Yea the reason they do that is because it’s about out of warranty and that’s when all the problems start, not to mention it’s probably had 40 different clowns in it beating the ever living #### out of it. Pay cash for something 2000 and down or buy brand new with a warranty so you should be able to get it paid off before you start having issues..

 

Be patient. Take your time. That fact that you want to buy a used emissions Werner truck concerns me. Study motors, study drivelines, study brands. Save your money. Buy cash for your truck if you can. If you can find a nice pre 2004, snag it up! I started with nothing and I winged it. After my down payment and first week or two of expenses I had $180 in the bank. Here I am 7 years later and having my own authority for 3 with no factoring. I am an exception, I refused to fail. So I learned more than most.

getting into the business is the easy part, what you do to stay in it will be your legacy. Don’t rush it, stack your money past $20k. You really want no less than $20k at any given time. In the mean time you learn the game, learn the business. And please don’t buy used emission trucks from the big fleets.
