I know several people with current cdl's in Illinois that are using a PO Box for the address. They have homes as well, but get their mail in town.

But, in Illinois, to get the CDL you have to show a physical address.

I am referring to the initial license. Any of the others is not a problem.

You might try a UPS store, or something on the same line, it reads like

    Your name
    534 Main St.
    PMB 264
    Whereverville IL 60549

That should show a "Physical address".

I have not done so yet, but for a wile i was thinking about it. In SC, you need a address for your lic. but you can have all your DMV mail go to a PO box.

    I hope this helps

    Spacer Thanks this.

Federal law states that the address on your CDL MUST match the address furnished from the chip implanted in your forehead..........

Said chip should have been implanted at orientation.

    You ARE welcome !!!!!!!

    Spacer and Baack Thank this.

Illinois has just gotten to be a stickler. I have been there when someone tries to get the first license and it does not work. Address change afterward is not a problem. Even if it is a P O Box.

Over the years, I've had no physical address and used a PO Box to receive mail. In Ca. for instance, you can use a POBox for an address, but you also need a physical address. In S. Lake Tahoe and Stateline, Nv., there is no home delivery of mail, so you need a POBox to get mail. I've been very devious at times to save $$$ with vehicle registration. I once used a motel address for my address with the owners permission. BTW, here in Az., any business done at DMV is handed to you on the spot, including drivers license/title/registration. So you could use any address. A lot of RV magazines advertise mail drop addresses that "full timers" use to receive mail at. You just gotta know how to play the system. When I worked for FFE, we could receive mail at the terminal.

Google search "Nevada mail forwarding services". You can establish a "physical" address (not a PO box) and use Nevada as your tax home. No state income taxes.

wow ask a simple question and 20 different answers. Wow anyhow I have a family home but getting sold. Ive had this adress and liscence for 10 years in illinois. I was just curious if i can use a p.o box pretty simple u would think. I get paid per diem so not worried about tax breaks. I might just wait awhile and save some cash before i find a place im not sure what im going to do yet. But thanks for those who did try to answer guess ill just check with the il dmv.
