$460!!!!!!!!
I had one replaced ON THE ROAD for $230 4 or 5 yrs ago and I didn't even have to touch it.$460 is madness.Like with older auto parts prices, they try to back you in a corner where you just go ahead and buy a new vehicle and be done with it.
-
Thats what they want you to do, buy a new truck so you "save" on parts. But i got news for them..... I will never buy a newer truck than 2003

The $230 was this on a mechanical motor mule?Muleskinner Thanks this. -
CAT has pulled out of on-highway engine production for 2010 anyway (apparently they noticed the engineering that produced the twin turbo flamethrower wasn't going to do much better for 2010). Instead they are going to be repainting International MaxxForce engines CAT yellow.
So if you want to drive an International and pay twice as much... buy a CAT (in 2010).
Cummins is pretty much the only engine manufacturer left that isn't owned by a truck company.
Back to the original poster's interest in PACCAR engines. The DAF MX is respected (very quiet and smooth running) in Europe as the power plant to the DAF XF which is also an award winning truck there. The question though is how well will perform in the North American market (think about when Mercedes tried to bring their engine over here)Muleskinner Thanks this. -
So why does your brain hurt? Must be cause you own a ISX

Just kidding man, dont take it to hard.Muleskinner Thanks this. -

HOLY HOT MOTHER OF MUD!!!!!!! Maybe it's not a bad thing I got rid of that 359 then.WHY are they going up so much? The C h i n k s must be using them for something so Cat is making more money off them now and don't care if we buy them or not. That price is so stupid that it actually pisses me off and I don't even need one(or a set. That would be bad)

people are keeping there trucks instead of trading up every few years becauseof the economics in play right now. My theory is they are charging more for parts to make up what they are loosing on truck sales.of course that doesn't go for cat parts but you see what I mean. Pete wanted $450 for a speedometer for my truck. I bought an aftermarket isspro 120mph for like $100 instead

Your injectors wouldnt run so high on the 359, mechanical injectors are a lot cheaper, not only that but you can rebuild them very easily. You can rebuild a electronic injector as well. Ive had some done by a shop in CA but the guy screwed them all up.
