Advice on paccar mx13 engine , are they good engines? Thinking about buying a kenworth t700 with 700k miles ? Are they reliable engines?

Depends on who you ask, how you care for them and if you have pissed off the luck gods lately. I have seen people who say crap as above and i have seen people who swear by them.
To expand on this MX and other erg and def engines in general are really picky about maintance and useage. If you can spin a wrench or pull and clean sensors for example it wont be too bad. Biggest tricks are getting a computer that can read and clear codes and to avoid idleing like the plauge.
Also you will see people swear by X engine here. Yet i have seen horror storys about cats, detroits, volvo, paccar and more. Just depends.Last edited: Mar 23, 2021

As stated , depends if it was maintained properly. At 700k on a modern emission engine it’s life is getting near the end before an inframe . Check to see if it was ever rebuilt . Also the newer the engine , the better. All early emision engines had problems .

Personally I would pass on that one. The newer mx13’s are a world of difference from the earlier ones.

T700 was a all around lemon that’s why it had a short run.. I know one former owner op who switched from a t2000 who was registering upwards of 100 codes on a 3000 mile rounder running team. He ended up going out of business from downtime and paying to get his loads delivered when he broke down. It wasn’t just engine codes either . This was a 2012 model brand new.
