The days of paper maps are dwindling, more and more are going to nothing but GPS for navigation. I have one and do use it but as a tool that does not dictate but advises, it is a very expensive truck stop finder as far as I am concerned plus it can be used to keep track of my miles.
Anyway, was surfing youtube and found this and thought it was funny.
Paper or plastic?

I have both, use neither. I do the same run every week, fuel at the same T/S every week, see the same docks every week am in the same places every week, sleep at the same places every week, and get home every week at the same time. Here's what I'm thinking about doing with both my atlas and GPS.
"For Sale, one used Rand McNally Truckers Atlas 2008 Edition, slightly used and missing the cover. Own this atlas just like the big riggers do". Selling Cheap, $1.95! Also for sale,
"One Rand McNally TND 510 Truckers GPS. Very colorful screen, great for those lonely nights driving down the highway for entertainment purposes". $5.95. Buy both for $7.00 and save .90 cents. Will throw in a pair of slightly used fingerless gloves to the first buyer in the next 10 minutes.Logan76, muledriver, 48Packard and 2 others Thank this. -
I use my paper map and check out the route online if it's an area I'm not too familiar with. It's good for the 'local' directions to the customer if they're tricky.
The problem with GPS is the 'driver view' they show, it limits the driver's ability to really know where they're going other than just following "turn left/turn right".aiwiron Thanks this. -
Number of times I said "Shaddup Stupid" over the CB during my first dozen years driving: Perhaps five
