My uncle told me the method he uses. He pulls forward with the rear of the trailer beside the first cone. Then he turns the wheel far right and counts to 3 then turns hard left until the rear of the trailer clears the boundary line and then turns back right

Keep the rear cone always in your vision if possible, they give you exactly enough room to complete the pos.use your goal only when you get nearly done.

Using the method the instructor wants gets me at a straight line with the trailer and tractor but im lined up on the middle cones with no room to swing the trailer to the right

Then use his method, except, instead of stopping exactly where he has you set up...pull forward 4 more feet.

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Hes trying to show us the text book method but everyone in class is struggling with his method. The method that my uncle uses seems easier. Its the mooney cdl training method

They taught us to line up like I told you then when you make your turns watch your mirror and split the landing gear with the outside drive tire. That will tell you when to stop and move to the next step
