I’m not in charge of booking loads.
I dropped in Wilmington, took a ten in front of KPAC, then picked up 6 mi down the road. Heading out to Ontario would’ve been pointless.
Parking Wilmington, Ca?

This is where communicating and doing what you said comes into play, they might be able to have you unloaded and a fresh load after getting that washout. Planning and preplanning comes into play heavy, Surprised they still letting trucks park down by Kpac.
DustyRoad Thanks this. -
Heading to Ontario would be a waste of time, 2-3 hours on a good day just to get to that hole, then with luck the next load would be within a few miles of Kpac. or from that same place, just front of building.DustyRoad Thanks this.

OUR company has a drop lot in Ontario. We even hire local jockeys to shuttle trailers from our customers. sometimes I would pick up Ice Cream in Bakersfield and go east or north to Portland. Rarely, did I wait for a load out. We rely heavily on pre-planned loads. We book 95 percent of our freight direct with fortune 100 shippers. No mom or pops on our lanes.

I’m not sure how “allowed” trucks parking outside of kpac is but there were a lot of us. I would never plan on parking there the night before a delivery though. Even after I unloaded at 0200 there’s was maybe 2 open spots. The place I picked up at seemed like there were areas to park(on east E st, by a smaller kpac facility) but that area is tent central for the homeless. Probably 4 blocks worth of tents set up.
There’s a fe customers in Buena Park that are ruck friendly along the street, as well in orange and Torrance. I usually go to one of those 3 if delivering in Wilmington/LB. -
Years of going to L.A. has taught me one thing.....plan your work and work your plan.

We routinely Have 02:00-05:00 unload appointments out near March AFB in Riverside, then 08:00 to 09:00 pickup appointments in NW Orange county or South LA County [that sometimes eat up an additional 2-3 hours at the dock] ... and often we may only have hours to arrive Barstow or Hesperia the day before ... seems simple enough back in the office, right? consider the traffic realities and do the math

I was just down by KPAC a couple weeks back. There are a couple industrial roads near it that allow legal curb parking, but get there early, or the locals will fill them up.

Just watch out for being knocked on the door at all hours by some that are wanting money. There are some good eating places with in walking distance.Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
