    So what happened if the officer didn't recognize the rule? When I'm local 100 mile radius I just have to tell my company my hours right?

    If they ever do not recognize the rule then we would have to weigh out our options. The ELD violation can result in the driver being put OOS so that we would not be able to fix. Plus the points on his CDL we would have to follow the process to try and get those removed. Plus the fines to the company and the other consequences. I'm 100% positive at minimum we would contact the DOT to get the driver's CDL fixed but I'm unsure of how much the company would fight the rest as we have yet to have it actually happen.

    There should be a paper trail in your office of your hours. At least a time sheet of sorts. I keep those on our drivers when they run local so they stay in compliance.
