Um. That sounds harsh. I've taken loads that utterly wrecked my hours to make my schedules. If anyone looked at my mess of elogs and suggested I somehow screwed up they can go pound sand. That's reefer and LTL. Other sectors not so much. But maybe back up on the driver bashing.. .
Some dudes just don’t get it. I’m home weekends and run out of hours 70% of the time right as I’m getting home. Pre trip 15-30mins. Driving 10hrs minimum Loading/unloading 1-3hrs each Drop/hook 30mins each Fueling 10-15mins Post trip 10-15mins.
I should have said on weekends I get in on one of the weekend days and take 42-48 off. Poor wording on my part
My old company job would reimburse us for a room if we didn’t get to come home for the weekend like normal.
I’ve had jobs that would wear your 70 out in five days, thankfully they were in the paper log days. 14 hours a day is easy to do if you work at the right place...just saying. i’ve never had to “babysit” my truck on a 34. I’ve taken them at girlfriends houses, buddies houses, in hotels, at family’s houses, etc... I always worked with dispatch to land where i wanted to be for my 34 whenever possible. Lock the truck up & go live your life for a day or two.
I've never been an otr driver so no 34's on the road but I've worked were you killed your 70 in five days and places you never really had to think about it. Saying that it's simple and you just need to manage your clock better is just plain ignorance. To many variables.
Can you explain this when you say "That's reefer and LTL"? Do you mean that reefer and LTL usually have messed up hours is that what you meant?
2 hours loading, 10 hours driving, 3 hours unloading, take a 10 and do it again tomorrow....welcome to the reefer world. start 6am, have 15 stops, never drive more than 30 minutes between stops...welcome to the local working mans world. one hour dock work, pretrip, 4-5 hours driving, two or three hours dock work, 4-5 hour drive back. Welcome to the line haul world.
