It was... in 2002. Not in 2022.
MOBee and Aamcotrans Thank this. -
As a solo driver? No. That wage would put you below the poverty level..
-
57K is below the poverty level? .37 * 3k miles is a bit over 100. at 52 weeks that is a little over 57k.
-
But are they actually getting 3k, or are they only getting 2400? 2400 * .37 * 52 = $46k
Nobody should make under $50k these days, not even a newbie starting out. -
You should be getting at least $.45pm starting right out of school. $.50pm is probably the highest you will see starting right off. $.47pm is about average.bryan21384 Thanks this.

Is the driver going to work 52 full weeks out of the year? Doubtful. It wouldn't take much time off to drop his wages down to the poverty level.Aamcotrans and bryan21384 Thank this.

I worked for that and still made $72G a year because of long runs and good accessorial pays & decent benefits.
No one can live on CPM alone. Look at the whole picture.Wasted Thyme and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Yeah but he ain't gonna be driving 3k every week. He probably won't even drive 2500 every week. I would have done the math starting from 2500 miles then went down from there. At 37 cpm, realistically, he will do good to gross 40k his first year. I'd say REO is correct in his figurative speak.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
