I am employed with a company that physically deposits my check into my bank account. Last Friday I received my deposit and by Wednesday I was notified by the bank that the check bounced. I have been contacting them and now no one will answer me. What can I do to get my money? My state's department of labor will not do anything because I am a truck driver. They are a small company. They are in Iowa. I am from Illinois. Thanks in advance for your advice.

    jamespmack Thanks this.

Are you in the truck now? Are you near Illinois? Top off the fuel tanks and get home ASAP. That company is in financial straits.

First things first: Get home safely. And then work in the back pay

    Get another job asap!
    How much do they owe?
You can't get blood from a turnip. They can't give something they don't have. Move on

You will probably have to sue in small claims court. The problem is, if they’re bouncing checks, their creditors will be having a feeding frenzy. There won’t be anything left or anyone to talk to.

If you were able to get a cash advance weekly, I’d get one to have some cash in hand.

Get home fast before they go out of business and leave you stranded. It happened to me, I ignored the bounced check, figured they would make it right. I was wrong and ended up holding the bag for thousands when a whole bunch of my past paychecks suddenly came back.

Bouncing your payroll check is a warning. Not answering the phone afterward is confirmation. Change jobs immediately.

STOP RIGHT NOW. If you're loaded, get rid of the load, head 'er back empty, and clean out the truck. There's no excuse for not making payroll, it's the 1st thing that should be covered. In all my jobs, I can't ever remember a payroll check bouncing.

Your unemployed as of right now.
Get real job with a real company.
Don't bother with these small rinky dink outfits.
There always on the brink of extinction.
They just don't have the resources to hang
    On thru the bad times.

they have either gone under or are about to. do not worry too much about them or thier equipment, (do not abandon unless the fuel card is shut off), but try to get back ASAP..

    seek other employment NOW....

best of luck, keep us informed..

by the way, if they later claim it was a "mistake"...still find another job..>!!!!!!
