Hey guys & gals Happy New Year!

Well my concert class head unit finally died after 1 million plus miles & was replaced with a Panasonic aftermarket unit from Peterbilt that is rated 50W x 4 with 16W x 4 RMS. I know it has an amp in the overhead console (have seen it) & was told it had a sub in the bunk. With the new head unit i gave up some sound quality but got an aux input & backlit dispay again. I have lost some but not all of my super strong bass from the sleeper now & wanted to tear into it & make sure it is still firing. The new unit plugged in so no cutting/ splicing was done. Any idea where to start? I've looked under the bunk & don't see any dead space. Thanks for your help.

I had a 386 with the sub under the bunk.
The enclosure was at the front driver side middle of the front of the bunk.

If I remember correctly its not a very large speaker. 8" speaker inside a simple enclosure. Sounded ok compared to other factory truck systems. Nothing to really write home about. Definitely not the pounding bass you would find from 12" - 15" sub boxes powered by 1500 watt amps.

Most aftermarket head units have a separate RCA output specifically for subs. The harness adapter generally does not feed the sub. So chances are your sub is not working at all.

I went through this with my Silverado. It came with the Bose system and had a sub inside the console between the seats. I bought an aftermarket DVD/Stereo set up and had to run a sub line to the amp for the sub. The harness that came with the stereo did not feed the sub.
