Hi y'all! I would be very appreciated if someone could help to figure what is going on or somebody has had this problem. I bought 2017 Pete 367 (MX13 with eaton fuller automated transmission) off auction and knew there is some issue. I drove off the lot and first thing what is happened - right on the ramp on to interstate truck wouldn't gain a power and there was like no power to shift a gear. Showed up on dash display "Stability control" fault. But in 10-15 sec trucks finally switched to the gear and drove like nothing wrong with it. I thought problem with a transmission but shifts as should. In 15 minutes drive all was good but right before hill truck lost a power and downshifted but wouldn't gain speed/power. I took the truck to local mechanic shop and their OBD Nexiq cannot be connected ( with Intuit app ). Only thing was connected - some tab but showed up some codes related to DEF/DPF system. They checked EGR valve - clean along with cooler. So, I took the truck to Peterbilt dealership, in 6 hours of diagnostic technician came to me with wiring harness issue and advised to replace it. only thing is part is on the back order and nobody knows waiting time. I'm keep trying to find any options with wiring harness but unfortunately no luck yet.
I have reports from Pete dealership below

It states "...black tape holding connector together..". Is this the only problem with the harness? This should be able to be repaired without buying the whole harness. Usually connectors and pigtails are sold to make a repair without replacing the whole harness. At least for cars, the parts are either sold through the dealer or there are places online that have a gazillion connectors for cars. Someone must make the same for trucks. I would ask the dealer first. It also states there are 3 different VGT codes and they are power related. Someone, not a parts replacer like the one who worked on your truck, should be able to find the problem and make a repair w/o replacing the whole harness.

They quoted you 3 harnesses for about $8,100 and that does not include labor. I doubt that they all need to be replaced. I would find a good electrical shop or a shop known for strong electrical diagnosis before spending that kind of money.

+$1900 labor. I called today them and double checked about required parts - they confirmed only last one needs to be replaced. Now I think to get it ship to my local mechanic shop. I believe there is nothing special that required replace entire wiring harness

Update: I brought my truck to CA and get it fixed in 2 days. Took it to local electrician shop in Long Beach. Problem was is a bad ABS sensor and some wirings has been bad contact. Paid less than $1k. Pete stealership wants $10k

    JB7 Thanks this.

The wiring harness could definitely be causing the problem, and it’s unfortunate the part is on backorder. In the meantime, you could try to find a used or aftermarket wiring harness if you're in a rush, but it’s important to make sure it's the right fit.

For future truck purchases, it's a good idea to check the vehicle inspection report. This can help spot potential problems before buying and save you from headaches like this one. Hopefully, the part comes in soon and gets your truck back on track!
