Are there any FMCSA or DOT rules regarding pets in / on your truck?:biggrin_2554:

Company rules yes, never heard of a law though I looked reallly good couldn't find one. There is some states where it is ILLEGAL to drive with a pet in your lap though.

Not a word at all in the FMCSR- it is strictly company policy. Being cynical, I'm guessing that any company that says "no" had a bad experience or two with jerkwad drivers who let their pets destroy the cab.

not any laws that i know of except pet in lap in some areas, but you might wanna check states where anti-idling laws apply it's just a myth that you can idle with a pet some states still dont allow it, so for the sake of your pet check the local anti idling laws

No laws that I know of either.

We have a pet policy and it's the basics pet laws. Must have shot records and they can't weigh over a certain limit. However we didn't used to have the weight limit until well a few drivers ruined it for the rest, IMAGINE that!:biggrin_25523:

But I believe it's up to the company:biggrin_25519:

Back in the 1980's,my girlfriend and I had an Alaskan Malumute, like a Husky. She told me to take the dog on a trip. It'll be fun,she said.I took out the passenger seat out and made a comfortable doggie platform.Left the house with a load to the mid-west.Dog looked happy.I don't speak dog but she looked happy.75 miles out,dog gets sick and throws up,a moment later the dog does number two on the platform I made. Now,I have never been sick on a plane nor in a car while in motion, but that day I pulled over like I had red lights in the rear view mirror.Proceeded to loose my lunch on the shoulder.Well, dog went home and stayed home.I went back out but I did have close to twenty hanging pine tree air freshners in the cab.Bad judgement call on my part I guess.

    LOL

Sorry, man, I feel your pain. Mostly.

One of the other dog team members in the SAR group I was with had bloodhounds. Pretty good dogs - but Rex.. Rex has a problem. He doesn't get car sick or anything.. but he does have rather amazing gas while in a car. Rolling all the windows down does NOT help.

If you ever pass through the Denver area and see a red Durango with K-9 on the back window, 3 dogs in the back, and a bunch of people with their heads hanging out the window, wave at Dave for me.

Buddy (my dog - retired SAR dog) is at home in any vehicle I've had him in. American Tundra Shepherd. Wouldn't trade him for any other dog on the planet. Absolutely the best dog I've ever owned.

Sadly, the pet / truck issue is moot for now. Buddy's about 10, and, as is the nature of big dogs, is having hip problems. Getting in and out of a truck is not gonna happen with him.

Nothing scares a burglar more than big white teeth in an invisible (100% black) dog.
