I currently live in the Seattle area, but have been thinking about moving to Phoenix. I've lived there before, but long before I ever had a CDL. kind of curious what to expect as far as pay scale down south. I work for a local LTL company here, and most of the LTL companies up here average anywhere from 20-26 dollars per hour. Anyone here live in the Phoenix area that can give me some info on what to expect down there? I know the cost of living us less there, but you also have state income tax there and we don't. So is the pay scale compatible with Washington, or will I be in for a shock?

    Thank you.

I think Mountain Valley Express pays $18.50 hr. That's what the website shows.

You'd starve to death on that in Phoenix! And yet they must be able to find drivers...

They also have a terminal in Las Vegas where the cost of living is cheaper and no state income tax. There's some decent companies in Phoenix and Las Vegas.
There's 3 milk tanker companies in Phoenix, but don't remember the names right now.
Probably get a job with Love's Travel Centers hauling DEF (non-hazmat) or diesel (hazmat).

what to expect down there in Phoenix ? Hot weather, hard to find employment, low wages, fascist cops(dot and sheriffs), only Hispanic speaking communities( I respect them ) . Not everybody can survive there. Sorry .

OTOH, while you do have three to four months of terrifically hot weather, there is a very good reasons that the "Snowbirds" from up north flock to Phoenix during the colder seasons. (Flocking Snowbirds...):p:D
I do agree with @Chinatown about decent companies in both Phoenix and Vegas.
Swift and Knight both are headquartered in Phoenix. Lots of LTLs call Phoenix, if not exactly home, then hub..
Phoenix is big enough that there should always be a job for those wanting to, and qualified to work.
