I wasn't a fan of this. It's done this way by "stacking" otherwise 4 pieces wouldn't fit on 1 trailer. It would be too wide... Nothing is holding the smaller pieces of pipe but the weight of the piece laying over the top which, isn't even sitting flush on them... Pretty sketchy, IMO. I definitely didn't like no type of dunnage or flat board underneath those little pieces of pipe either, when they load the top piece on they literally roll it essentially slamming it onto the little pieces of pipe... Very loud and rough on my trailer....
I don't think choke strapping these together would benefit but maybe I'm wrong? Would you guys secure it any different? You can't see in the picture but the bottom pieces are laying on lumber with the little triangle pieces on the ends so it won't roll off... Total weight is 28k.

What you think @D.Tibbitt ?

I wouldve strapped the same as you did. Not sure what else a guy can do to secure that... Looks like a load that could shift really easy, especially if that bottom pipe starts to move out towards the side... Although if that happens the top pipe might settle against the small uprights a little better... Id just tighten the #### out of the straps and put it in the wind and check it every 100 miles or so.
How many miles u got on it til delivery?cke, booley, CAXPT and 1 other person Thank this. -
LOL, it's already been delivered... But, was roughly 800 miles. Seemed like every time I stopped to tighten straps, the top two pieces would pull further off of those little pieces they are sitting on... The only thing I can think is maybe next time use my J-plates on a couple of straps in the middle of the trailer to give it more of a up&down pull versus an angle going from Side 2 side of the trailer...
Maybe?
Sketchy no doubt... -
Can see just a little bit of what looks like wood shims, on the camera side of the lower pipes laying longwise. That said, cribbing those stand up pieces would have been an improvement. Nailed pieces in the nailer board (if there is one on there) would have gone a long way of at least keeping those standing pipes a little more stable at the base. You really can't choke strap them because that would just help them walk in the direction of the strap pull. Same with the larger pipe, it would have just put sideways strain on it causing it to favor that side. The straight down is the main friction factor for that pipe. Bracing the lower standing pipes is about the best additional securement you could have given this load, otherwise, slow and easy does it until you see how it reacts.
