    I have a power drive 3000w. I just tried using my electric skillet to cook some food and the skillet kept cutting off. I then heard like a constant beep coming from my power inverter that lasted for about 5-10 seconds. I’ve used this skillet probably close to a hundred times with no problem. The power inverter also gave a code while it was beeping which said OCP. I unplugged it for a couple minutes and tried to use the skillet again with no luck. It appears my mini fridge is still working though. I even unplugged the mini fridge and tried just the skillet and it still would not stay on. What should I do?

    It could be bad batteries if the truck was turned off while you were trying to use it.

    OCP = over temperature protection
    You didn't mention it, but always have the truck running while using high current loads. Cooking with a heating element can draw over 100 amps from the truck batteries.
    Running a computer or laptop not a problem.

    Yes, I always run the truck when cooking. For some reason my fridge is still running, the problem happens with the hot skillet. Could there be a power circuit problem coming from the hot skillet itself?

    How many watts is the skillet supposed to draw?

    What about trucks that have a timer to shut off the truck cause they can't idle? Can an APU still do the trick?

    My inverter would trip off when the fridge kicked in. The start up is a good current draw.

    When I was making a cup of coffee and the fridge kicked in the inverter would trip out. Or using the microwave and the fridge kicked in.

    I had an induction cook top that would not run with my cheaper modified sine wave inverter.
    I had to get a pure sine wave inverter for it to work, as an added bonus my microwave ran quieter after that.
    A cheap skillet should be just a resistive heating element and should work fine on a modified sine wage inverter, but if it has a bunch of electronics in it may not work.
    If your inverter does not say it anywhere then it is a modified sine wave inverter. The Power Drive 3000 is one.
    Pure sine wave inverters are clearly marked.

    Oh, what size wire are you using to supply it?
    I always used welding cable.

    Happened to me. They go bad. Bought another and went down the road.
