Someone said I was odd for this, I like to do my pre trip before actually logging it so that way if I find a problem I'm not burning hours sitting waiting for repair or some other bull.

I like to break the law and then post all about it on the internet. What's the worst that could happen?

Pretty good idea. I do the same. First thing before heading out I pop the hood and check the fluids. Not going to climb in the truck to log in on e logs then climb back out.

I punch on duty for my pretrip, go in, use the rest room, get coffee and breakfast, to go. Get to the truck, wait til it shows 15 minutes, or edit it back to 15. Go off duty, check my lights and feel the tires.
yes, my thumb on the sidewall is accurate.
then I leave. Plus I do a walk around every time I stop.

whisper..... I've yet to check if my batteries are corroded. I'm really not sure I have them. It might be a magic truck. Ssshhhh

The E log is not some magic genie who must be obeyed. The spirt of the law is to check you equipment. When you actually do it is up to you

When I would get hometime I would do my pretrip and get it out of the way. Then a quick walk around the day I was to go back out.
