Ok you guys I’m new to this trucking thing and had a bad day today. I have been driving for about 2 1/2 months. I was at a tight dock. Had trailer doors open while backing in garage type dock with another dropped trailer in dock. I didn’t notice this door hanger thing on top inside door and it scraped the top of trailer. About 4ft when I pulled up to straighten out. Company messaged me after I reported and sent pics that next time could result in suspension and termination and going in my file as a preventable accident. Do I have to be worried I kinda felt threatened like they want me gone. But I feel like I’m doing ok ran 6 weeks straight. I don’t know why they came at me like that.

    Kyle G. Thanks this.

One black mark won't hurt you.
    Don't even worry about it.

Company policy. Stick it out and don't hit things going forward. Get your year in, and move to a better company.

I'm almost 7 years in, and I almost took out a trailer door backing in to a dock today. I was backing in, the sun was directly behind me, so the mirrors were all but ineffective. The docks had bars sticking out on each side below the door seals with flat bumper plates painted yellow. The dock I was backing into - the flat plate had been knocked off on the right side, and there was NO bar on the left side, and there was NO bar, flat plate or door seal pad on the left side - the side I could actually almost see. Backing in blind, I felt the need to stop, get out, walk to the back and check both sides. That's the only thing that saved me from breaking a door off the trailer today.

    Experience comes with time.

    Lepton1 and Badmon Thank this.

Your right I need to not hit anything else. I’m glad you didn’t break your door off that would have been a crappy feeling!

Just relax, this is no biggie. Literally no biggie, I've had drivers do a lot worst. The company has their policies as I do and I don't deviate from them, so don't sweat it.
