I have been doing my due diligence and doing a lot of homework. Though neither of these companies may pan out, these are my top two. I am going to list my pros and cons here, and would love some input.

Pride pros: No contract for schooling. Pay for my own schooling in the range of $6k to $8k locally. Everyone I have spoke to who has or is working for them loves them. OTR to 25 states (most of which I have been in), local yard, bobtail home for home time. 45 cpm after training
Pride cons: No guarantee of hire until after you have your CDL. I have read there is a contract for training (like 6 mos or something) but have not verified. Not much travel to places I haven't been. I'd have to buy their inverter to put on my truck ($400 in installments), 1 pet with a 40lb size limit and a pet deposit (I can't remember how much, either $500 or 1k)

Wilson pros: If you break your contract, it's $3500..after 6 months it's half and prorates from there to $0 in one year. Everyone I have talked to loves/loved working for them. After training, I'd be driving the Western 11, home every other week or so. No yard, but you take the truck home and they will help you find trailer parking locally, and you can bobtail home. Seems to be growing very recently and very quickly, so there must be plenty of freight. Dry van You can transfer to OTR to 48 states after you have some experience, that would be reefer. 46cpm after training. No pet deposit, no size limitation for 2 pets after your first 60 days solo
Willson cons: 1 year contract. Only seems to travel to places I know (could be a pro too...I have traveled extensively in these states)

They seem pretty comparable. I am leaning toward Wilson just because of the savings for your CDL and the pet thing. I'd love any input you all have! Wilson has also sent me a letter of intent to hire (or whatever it is called in this industry). That's kind of important, since I am walking away from a job I've had for 22 years...

I haven't seen a PRIDE truck in forever. We are talking about PRIDE out of SLC right?

They used to not take students.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Yes. They do now, but there's no company school. You have to show up with your CDL. I saw one about 2 weeks ago...just one though lol

    D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Wilson is a driver mill, suck ‘em in and spit ‘em out. Pride doesn’t pay like they should, but staff and drivers are treated fair. I know several still there from about 6 years ago when I worked there. Don’t believe all the England stories, Pride is waaay better. Wilson is a lowballer on freight, and they run heavy and hard.
