Too bad your guess is wrong. If your "guess" were true they would make all trainees come to Springfield and have them do their upgrade test on the simulator.

Upgrade tests at the Pittston PA and Salt Lake City UT terminals are still the old orange cone deal on cement and asphalt.

There just simply isnt enough room on the training pad to accomadate all that they would like to accomplish with everyone. At various times they have compounded the situation by parking either old reefer trailers before they are resold, or stacks of flatbed trailers

They pad is primarily focused on the state CDL Exam in the real trucks on a daily basis, and rather than have everyone sit around and wait hoping for a small test bunch to clear out for the day they put them in the simulators.

MO changed the CDL exam late 2008 and the cone setup takes up alot more space than before. Where does that leave room for the upgrade test taken by trainees and new hires with questionable experiance? It certainly leaves no room for students who are stuck from the previous weeks class that are waiting for instructors... who also pray daily there is a small test group that day and maybe will finish early so they will get to move a truck rather than practice pre-trips for hour on end.

BTW... Ive done both upgrade tests. While the simulator is not exactly the real deal, it was easy... Cant make the tractor hop up and down with the clutch in reverse because you're nervous like you can in the real thing.:yes2557: Honestly, I would prefer they evaluated these guys in a real truck... but the only guys taking this test are guys who have already trained for 60k miles and should know how to drive, OR they are new hires with limited experiance.

I would have a REAL problem if they started giving the state CDL exam on a simulator... that would be reckless.

Prime just cleared out a huge section of land next to the pad... depending on who you ask its either a pad expansion, or a new tire shop...

Prime, either new prime or old...its still prime..always hiring should be the first clue something is wrong. I work for a company that has 300 trucks and a waiting list to be hired....when a truck opens up...

I dont know the formula, but safety looks at your record and experiance and determines how many training miles you must complete.

You could screw up and have more tacked on... either during your training or after your training.

I met a guy at the terminal a few months ago who did 60k... got on his own truck and within the week got a huge ticket when he decided to follow his GPS and not pay attention to the Truck Route signs in IL... He got pulled out of his truck and was given the option of 40k more miles with a trainer or no job.

    He took the miles.

Yeah, I missed last years party... year before was alot of fun.

I get in tomorrow afternoon. I will PM my room number if you want to meet up. I'll be running around town on errands here and there, but for sure we can chat at the party.

I maybe interested in a simulator challenge... we'll see.
