I forgot to mention the #### regen. You have to pull over and do a parked regen at random, which can make you late for p/u and deliveries. Usually happens 3-4 times per week during the summer. During the winter it's maybe once or twice per month, so not an issue.
Eventually the exhaust filter will get clogged and you'll have to go to the dealership. If it didn't get clogged so much and nerf the engine's power, it would be alright since you don't have to buy DEF.

As stated in the teens. Up the mileage and they get cheaper. -
I guess buy one and drop a 12.7 in it and you have a glider.

Not legally possible
-
Is it do to the frame age?
-
I think it's due to wiring issues tho anything is feasible it's cost prohibitive.
-
Yes. You're better off buying something like this

and running it. If you have 25k for a truck, buy this for 10, leave 5 for registration/taxes/insurance, and invest the remaining 10 into it. Then, assuming you maintained it and treated it right, you may get 200-400k before needing to do a rebuild and going through the running gear. -
The EPA prohibits you from replacing an emission engine with a non emissions engine due to the chassis age. Replacing the engine with a pre-emissions engine is considered illegal and a "delete" for emissions.
-
It would have to meet the emissions requirements as it came from the factory
77fib77 Thanks this. -
Just my opinion but until someone comes up with a economic repower solution for these trucks that's legal id stay away from them unless it's gift based on my experience with the one I drove ...the pro star is a great truck and loved mine but unless it's Cummins powered id stay away.
