Pulling Doubles for the first time. Advice?

    I would personally never advocate such behavior, but that would likely provoke some interesting reactions once discovered by the terminal management.

    When I was dock duty/ yard man at ABF also a P&D driver. Mentioned several times on here would do it for crap and giggles. Frankly, just not enough time/equipment to do it. Our barn was small ( left ABF ) Very small. its tight for doubles to loop around the building, Wasn't worth it to go only straight for the length of the building. The 2nd shift supervisor wouldn't care. Just wasn't worth it for a laugh.

    Probably something to do before retirement then.

    I wonder what kind of fine pulling 8 trailers down the highway would bring...

    The emergency side would probably take forever to air up, if at all.

    I sure miss that ole UPS driver who drove doubles who posted on here. I can't remember his complete username; was an actual name though first and last.. He got banned a couple years ago. Fella, if you're still out there I hope all is well.

    You know whats funny? I posted the same thing awhile ago. I'm losing it. I won't post my previous post about it.

    I guess that guy had a bit of an impact on my career choice. I don't work for UPS but another company pulling doubles. Thanks buddy!

    Always get into a routine and always double check before you roll out the gate.

    After I hook up my set I push my trailer break in then I get out and physically touch every hook up that I did to make sure it is correct. After checking the lead trailer I go to the dolly and listen for any air leaks. Again touching every connection to make sure it is correctly attached.. Including the dolly chain that is hooked to the lead.

    With OD, our pups have seals on them and we are required to lock them as well. Before putting a lock on each pup I make sure the seal numbers match the bills. And also when I do my double checking, I double check to make sure I have the correct pups. There was one time when I double checked I realized I had numbers backwards on one of my pups. Instead of a 79 it was a 97.. Better to find out and fixing it before rolling out the gate.
