The problem is not the owners the problem is the drivers that bend over backwards and take whatever the company gives them. Bet they dont speak much english either. U load me overweight ur takin #### off no matter how many times it needs to be re worked. They will figure out how to load it legal after a couple of times dealing with a driver that doesnt take ####

Overweight tickets have zero effect on the company’s safety rating. So ratting them out will only result in revenue for the great state of CA. And that will come from the driver, not the company.

And if, by chance, they’re getting paid by weight they won’t want to lighten up anyway. The load I have on right now pays by the ton. I loaded mid afternoon and will be empty and in bed at 3am. Did I load 25 or 28 ton?

@flengojenkins are these containers? Don’t they have different rules as long as the actual weight is on the BOL?

Just one really, there is a large number in kilos and in pounds on the box. You do not exceed that number.

For a 40 foot box you could load 64000 and for a 20 footer you can stuff 62000 into them give or take a couple hundred. This is in US Pounds.

These loads would be way in excess of say a 48 foot great dane capable of say 48000 or so give or take.

I used to take Ball Bearings out of Richmond and my god they were heavy.

Also some military depot loads had nothing on the BOL except destination, box number and weight. You don't know whats in that box.

You are exactly right! Owners dont give a rat's rear-end about you. Drivers, Quit hauling illegally! and quit hauling cheap frieght!

I agree with this 110%. The industry needs men and women of integrity working out there. The problem with trucking is the owner will just find some other schmuck to haul the illegal, cheap load!

I saw no mention of the rate, so how does one assume that it’s cheap? And the OP also doesn’t know, or didn’t specify, if it paid by the weight or not. And the OP also made mention of shipments from overseas, and if that’s the case and it’s in a container then they can be heavy as long as the exact weight is listed on the BOL from what I’ve read online.

So if it is in a container and the weight is legal and the owner operators feel they’re fairly compensated for what they’re doing it’s not really any of our places to say they should be doing it differently. The OP wants to harm the owner of the company but really he has no way of doing it. All he will do is cost the owner operators money who are choosing on their own free will to run for that company. If they didn’t like it they would take their truck and leave.

Never got on my PSP and I never paid a dime, the employer did. All the overweight tickets that I got hauling milk, not one "black mark" ever appeared on my DMV or PSP. I would not dodge the scales, I told the employer, you pay me to dodge the scales, I will, but no pay for me, you can pay the fines.
