    Well,

I am about 6 weeks out from my graduation and I thought I had my company chosen for my externship phase.

But I recently found Pride and have been reading the threads from this post.

Appreciate PHX for the information on his journey with Pride.

Stevens was my number one choice and I have been pre-hired with them,( they want me to commit to them) but I spoke with Pride on Friday and was very encouraged with what Pride told me about training recent graduates.

So I filled out the application and I am hoping to hear some positive news from them soon.

Pride is not a large company but they move through my area quite a lot so my chances of getting home more often is greater.

The folks I spoke with were very pleasant and helpful so I had to re-evaluate my choice of carrier.

In the mean time I will continue to read the threads!!

Desert Dog I looked up Pride`s website and they require 1YR otr experience. If they are hiring student drivers let me Know I am about to truck driving school and Pride sounds like a great company to start with

If you start with CR England and survive the year, it is easy (so they say) to transfer over to Pride...same family!

The website also states that they accept recent graduates. So I called them up and the recruiter told me to fill out an application.
I did that this past weekend so I hope to hear something back soon.

    I'll keep you posted!

    cheolopez Thanks this.

Okay, here's the update. On November 29, 2010 I had a "cardiovascular event" and was off work till a week ago. During that time I lost 70 lbs and got up to walking 3 miles a day. When my doctor finally cleared me to return to work Pride took me back with open arms. Been back for a week now. So far the first week was 3k miles so needless to say I'm happy. My truck had a whole 300 miles on it when they gave it to me.

When I came back last week there was a new hire in orientation who had just finished a year at CRE. I think they feel if they can survive that they must be okay.

Congratulations on losing the weight and recovering from your "event".:biggrin_25514: I "preach" the benifits of weight loss and quitting smoking to anyone who complains about their companys health policy.

Well lets see, I delivered on friday in SLC and didn't reload till midnight so no miles for friday. Then I delivered on sunday morning in phoenix. So that meant a 500+ mile day on saturday but my reload was suppose to be monday so only 128 miles on sunday. Monday's load fell thru so I've been told I might not load till tomorrow so probably 0 miles today. This comeback started off with a bang but the last few days have fizzled into a whimper.
