I have been out of the country for 9 years, but will return soon to drive again. I hear stories about cabovers being illegal in the US now. Is this true or can they still be driven over-the- road? I was thinking of purchasing one, but not if they are now illegal. Also, someone commented that they are hard to be found. I am in Southeast Asia (Vietnam) and most all the trucks are US imports-especially Schneider (still have the names on the sides) along with Wal-Mart and GST. Another interesting note; thanks to the US, Vietnam now has a good supply of old US Military trucks. You wouldn't believe how many they left here.Thank God you are trucking in the US instead of over here! Thanks if anyone can nail-down my question.

They are not illegal, just no longer produced for the OTR market. There are some still on the road.

Friends dont let friends drive cabovers.

I had a instructor that told us some of the horror stories of cab overs. The worst part he said was the lack of insulation. In the dead of winter there was no heat in a cabover.

You guys should really try a modern cab over.
They are smooth and just as well insulated as any conventional.
    Better visibility and maneuverability.
Smoothest truck I have been in is a cab over.

They're legal, just not used much. We have one on the yard for those really nasty places that are nearly impossible to get into.

Personally if I where to buy a truck it would be a cab over. Best bang for the buck out there, and you can get into that last space at the truck stop.

Glad you like it, I could care less. I will stick with a traditional freightliner.

I am diseased. lol :biggrin_25523: (because I like freightliners)

I don't care if they're the most smooth maneuverable insulated machine on the road. I'm not climbing a ladder to get into my truck and I'm not jacking the cab to work on anything.:biggrin_25525:
