Hello Heavyd,
The inline description says: Step-by-step trouble-shooting information. Does this tell you what and where the issue is on the engine? Or is this troubleshooting for getting the software to work? I'm looking for something to diagnose and fix my engines without always taking them to the dealer.

And is it cost EFFECTIVE? That's the other point they are also getting at.
A single truck shop can't afford $750+ for an interface that works, another $1000 for software and another $650 for an annual subscription to be able to troubleshoot and diagnose their truck. -
I don't see where you are going with this. Do you think this information should be available for everyone for free?

For free? No....
Reasonable price? yes. I struggle to NOT being able to work on my equipment because I cannot afford the software to work on my truck, my bunk heater or my APU because of not being able to afford $3000 worth of software for EACH component.
The engine shops I go to for my detroit, don't have ALL of the software for the engines either because it's too expensive to get it.
People talk about getting ripped off from shops and not being able to troubleshoot engines or even chassis electrical.
THIS is the starting point.
Heck, just the cover plate for my 9-pin connector to replace it was $42 from Freightliner as it's a dealer only component. -
I see what you mean. Yes, it can get expensive. Not sure where you are seeing $3000 for software for each component though. Do you have any links? Don't forget, it also a matter of supply and demand. Not too many individuals really want the software. The market for it is really only the dealers, large fleet shops and larger independent garages. It isn't like your local Chevy or Ford dealer that can be found all over the place. Commercial trucks sales and dealers are nowhere near the numbers of major car dealers. The manufactures are free to price their software anyway they like. I suggest you contact them to complain. Call around too, some dealers are able to sell for less then MSRP.

folks I have talked to are Freightliner. 750 for the 9 / 6 pin interface. $1200 for software and $650 for annual subscription. I have ONE truck.
Thermo-King = $750 for interface. $1500 for software. That's just for the Tri-pac. Another $2000 for the software for the webasto bunk heater.
Carrier - $800 for interface, $2500 for the software with a $650 annual subscription. I have ONE trailer.
