I tend to agree. You have a shady past where nobody wants to hire you but the bottom of the barrel means you have a long up hill climb. Trucking isn't an escape because you need a job. You don't saw off your fingers and then think you'll be a good carpenter.You're gonna have to take it very seriously and re-learn how to be a good driver. You'll drive 10 times the amount you drive now meaning you're 10 times most likely for something negative to happen. You carry you're present habits forward you'll end up a statistic we read about in the newspaper.
Once you go through all the effort to get a CDL, you have to maintain good habits to keep it. DOT doesn't play around.
I believe you can do good if you start your career because you really want this and realize your mistakes before. You have to have the right frame of mind. You're first year is going to be tough regardless who you go with. Then you can pick a better company.
Out of the two, I would pick Stevens. Good Luck!
