Quitting under a load??

I spent 3 days in the August Wyoming heat in an old lopsided Mack with no AC when I started my last job. It’s not like a “back in the day” story either, this was 2013. Stayed there 5 years because it did get better. If I were you, and could easily step into another job I would deliver that load then bail. Sounds like they screwed you, but don’t drop to their level.

 

Even as an O/O I almost told my boss to shove it today. Then I remembered my boss is such a great guy I couldn’t do that to him

 

I thought about being an O/O, but I don't ever want to work for a jerk like that...!

 

My boss is an ####### and says "how you gonna buy whiskey and other stupid #### then?"

 

My boss is pretty cool.. lets me stop when I want, pick my own loads, go where I wanna go.. If I don't like something I voice my opinion and he listens. I got a pretty good boss..

 

My boss answers

 

Not difficult, You go on a personal leave of absence, you are not obligated to explain past that point to a employer, it is your right, under current labor laws.
You simply tell them you've had something come up at home which requires you to take a personal leave, and in a week or two, you let them know your not coming back. Not difficult at all.

I admit I never considered the LOA option. Be that as it may, I suspect if a fella takes a LOA after two days, it’s likely the same as quitting on the spot.

You cite current labor laws. Did I miss where the OP mentions what state he is in? Or is this a federal labor law?

Here at least, an employer is not required to grant a LOA nor is the employer required to hold a job for someone on a LOA. At least that’s what my employer told me in 2005 when I wanted one

 

I'd take the high road OP and deliver the load and bring the truck back .
At my last company greater Omaha I delivered they're load in Omaha...took the truck home and cleaned it out .
Next day they had they're truck back spotless inside and out with cards and paperwork.
Next week got everything I had coming to me .
Lifes easier with clean conscious even if you were wronged .
That was 2 years ago and still at Morehouse and couldn't be happier.
