That's Pretty Darn Good Money there-
What happens is.....The Customer (Depends on the severity of their needs) Will Work a rate into the product, pretty obvious they were willing to shell out some cash to get that shipment-

Not too shabbly rate for Rosedale either- Considering its Roofing.

This will probably get me yelled at but so what. I know it's 1,200 miles and $3,900 on that for daily rate is not terrible but $3.25 a mile to Florida, for reefer anyway, is pretty much a going rate practically year round. I dunno what reload possibilities are like on the open market for a flatbed out of Tampa. Can't imagine it being really generous. For most of the year I gnash my teeth if I can get $4 a mile to Florida, which is usually difficult to do. Always try for a lot more than that but that'll cover you to south GA if reload freight happens to be decent there.

As far as EOBR affecting rates years ago I thought it would. But the closer we got to Dec 17th mandate I came to,the realization it wasn't going to change the rates too much. Maybe a little. What we've seen has been driven by real economic demand instead of a leaching government regulation. As soon as the demand dries up the rates will tank as always and we'll all be stuck with our wonderful EOBR's. Another thing I notice is when that 14 hour clock has already started ticking for most people who haven't got a load booked for the truck, when faced with that, they play right into the broker's hand and can be manipulated easily into moving that truck for whatever. Especially these guys who have $3,000 truck payments not to mention whatever other obligations they probably have to their bank.

Back to the Florida thing again I know people that go there for $3 a mile. I know one driver that goes to Miami every week all year long for $2.85 on 900 miles but excepting about a 2 month period he has connections to reload good paying reefer freight back north. That's the only way I can see $3+/- being worth it to anywhere FL. Just my O.

I live an hour north of Tampa,... so this is my come home load.

Shingles to me are bricks n sticks. Nothing a seasoned step guy should do unless they need it bad. So when my broker threw a destination and rate at me a few weeks ago,... I nearly choked when he told me it was shingles. I said,.. man they must really want this load delivered. Someone is losing money.

Then I'm close by a week later and he asks me to load out of Kankakee again. Again... the rate is pretty good. After that, I've been making the rounds of Pa steel and Kankakee shingles.

I almost don't want to take time off for fear I'm going to miss the boat and come back to crappy rates. Been rolling like this since Jan 22nd. I need a break. Sitting very flush right now.

Shingles like bricks are an excellent baromerbato measure the economy. They are a signal of a strong housing market showing a demand for new construction.
This will undoubtedly also be represented in durable goods orders.

Heck even Hardie board is paying over the top. Even with tarping. And no line because they can’t find trucks.

Gumper the rates we have been paying in the state are through the roof right now. Everything we are getting quoted is well over $4.50 a mile.
