    I've got an 05 Classic w/ a S60 14L 455hp w/ a 13 speed and I believe 3.70's.
865k on the motor, good oil psi, so I'm having DD replace bearings in bottom end and run an overhead/ check injectors.Planning on a 600hp/2000tq program w/egr delete and adding free flow exhaust.Question is what measures should be taken to insure little or no problems w/ more power? IE...gaskets, seals, cac test, boost/ temp gauges?
    Thanks guys

I have a pyro but it seems to only work before the EGR wakes up in the AM.
I thought it might work once the EGR is deleted.....

and lest we not forget with a detroit you also get to worry about "Oil Mileage" because I have yet to see one that didn't like to eat it some oil, or just flat out leak it on the ground.

When I was learning I drove a W9 with a Detroit, I learned to hate that engine, once I got my licence I bought a W9 with a 6NZ 3406E and put half a million miles on it with the biggest problem I had with it the whole time being having to replace the thermostat.

I ran the overhead once a year, kept the oil changed at 10K intervals, and she treated me right. Selling that truck was one of the single most universally stupid things I have ever done.

What a douche! The guy asks for simple advice and you have to pounce on him for your own satisfaction. Grow up and learn some manners!

Unless you are going to rebuild the entire engine, do not waste your money.

To achieve that kind of HP and torque with a small displacement engine like the Series 60, you need to change everything. Pistons, liners, an entirely new ECM program, the whole smash. I would also have the block checked for perfect measurements and the head and block matched level.

There are plenty of people out there who will say I am wrong, throw in a programmer and leave it. You can if you want, but remember, your already approaching a high mileage bracket, she isn't a young woman anymore. If you want reliability at a high power range, everything inside needs to be built for a LIFETIME of high power ranges.

Pittsburgh Performance does all of this, but I am guessing at a cost of $30,000.

Also, to put an engine like that, into a Freightliner Classic is a bad move, why? It is a freightliner. It has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, resale value of all trucks out there. A 2005 classic is worth what, $25,000 right now? Your talking about putting that much or more just into the engine, and the entire truck isn't worth anything for cash or trade in a manner of speaking. Also, don't make the mistake of thinking if you drop serious coin into a high performance engine, it suddenly makes the truck worth $50,000.

I hate to be a bubble burster, but there are only 2 trucks worth putting money into, and that ALWAYS sell no matter what, and both are made by Paccar.
