Don't be discouraged most of all these large carriers were started by drivers on parole or probation.

There's cdl schools for inmates and companies that recruit from them. PI&I Motor Express in Masury,Ohio is one of them that was in a newspaper article I read last year.

Prime also hires applicants with a felony record.

If you apply with Prime, talk directly (and only directly) with Andrea Mueller - the head of the recruiting department. The regular recruiters will not know the actual answers...

Beyond that, like Chinatown said -keep dropping applications. If you’re unable to find work with a trucking company, having your Class A is a HUGE bonus for any construction company - and makes you instantly more valuable.

If you have any questions, shoot me a PM as well!

I watched this video a while back. Don't know anything about the company he's talking about but it might be something to look into

Thanks for posting. I will pass this on to some drivers with felonies looking for work. I have talked with people at unemployment offices and they said that it's not if you had a felony but how long ago you were convicted of that felony. There's always a waiting period. Especially if it is connected to drugs. I've also known at least two men that have gotten past that waiting. And now they are working successfully so there's always hope.

LTI Trucking in St Louis will hire felons. They are a good company from what I've seen.

I don't know if this group ever made it or not but they offered a heck of a deal about 5 years ago. An opportunity for someone with an otherwise disqualifying (to most companies) record to work for a company as an driver and after a period of time, they transferred ownership of the tractor to you and you became an owner operator or independent contractor.
