Rear axle started leaking. The diff oil is coming out between carrier and axle housing. it was no leaking this morning. I am in Kingman area and I need to get KC and back. Any idea how I can stop or slow down this leak ? it's one drop in 3-4 minute. TIA

Black RTV silicone sealant. The black stuff is supposed to be more (resilient?) to oil. even if you have to lay out a bead and let it dry and stuff it in the crack with a screwdriver, try to clean the oil off and re-seal it again.
Not a fix, but good enough to slow the leak in my experience.
Maybe rubbing a bar of soap on it will plug it up...Rideandrepair, Hulld and mhyn Thank this. -
I’m 80 miles away if you need anything bud, car and all tools ready to go.

As long as you clean surcease real good with carb or brake cleaner, flex seal will seal anythingshatteredsquare, Rideandrepair, Hulld and 1 other person Thank this.

Just keep it full until you get home and fix it right. Gear lube is cheap. Anything you slather on top of the area with oil leaking out continuously will not bond.
Rideandrepair, wore out and El turbo Thank this. -
How big is the puddle on the ground in the morning?
Larger than a dinner plate? If, so you probably want to check it mid-day or so.
I'm sure DOT has different ideas.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
do you know how many gallons of gear oil take Meritor axles ?
