I drive for Schneider. Just got a message that on March 18th I ran a red light in Chicago operated by a camera, and now I need to sign some paper to deduct $100 from my paycheck. I talked to them on the phone yesterday and asked why they notified me almost 2 months later, and did not give me a chance to go to court, to which they said they just pay those fines. They tried to convince me that it's obvious that I ran the red light after they watched a video and today they wanna show it to me and talk about safety, etc.
I have a question to anybody who knows the law or has experience with photo traffic citations.
    1. Will I get points on my license? (Many years ago I got a speeding ticket issued by photo cam in MD in my personal car, and the paper said no points will be added).
    2. I believe I have the right to a due process and it was violated. Since the citation was paid, I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I don't remember. Considering the yellow is only 3 seconds and truck stopping distance is longer than cars, it could be unsafe to start braking too close to the intersection

That is something I thought about today. I almost hit a red in my personal car...but past the "point of no return." That point is much closer to a light for a car than a truck. Obviously speed is a big factor too. How often do you all see/deal with this?

Quite a bit...you learn to realize when the green is "stale". I was taught if I didn't see the light turn green than it is red. Trying to beat a red light in a big truck as a habit isn't very smart.

Lady K, Barrhntr and Meltom Thank this.

I like that. It seems to me that slowing and waiting for the next green would be the safest way to go.

The ticket was given to the registered owner of the truck so you couldn't have fought it. You won't get any points and nothing will be on your dmv record. Schneider may put it on your DAC (if dac is even around anymore), but they just want you to pay the fine and move on.

It's easier to deal with the lights when you are going the speed limit. Going slower makes them difficult.

When i know there are red light cameras in the area I drive faster...

I'd just give them the $100 and get it out of your life ... Just chalk it up as a stupid mistake ... Not really worth the argument, no points will be on your record since the camera can't prove who was driving.
