Wonder if anyone can offer some insight on this. I drive a 2012 ProStar Plus. The past few days it's been requiring multiple parked regenerations. For instance, 2 days ago, I sat on the side of the road for two hours and did 7 back to back regenerations. Yesterday, I did 2 single regenerations. Today, now, I'm sitting on the side of the road again, currently on the fifth consecutive regeneration. It does not regenerate on its own at highway speeds. I've taken the air filter out and blown it out. Our road service says to just keep doing it as it sometimes takes many times. But many times every day?? It's cutting too much into my 14 and making my loads tighter than I like, not to mention any possible damage to the company truck. Any ideas? Thanks.

The hydrocarbon injector, (doser injector) is probably dirty and needs cleaning. There is also a gasket update for the injector as the hole is too small and promoting carbon plugging. This usually also leads to plugging of the hole in the exhaust pipe too. Instead of the nice spray pattern from the injector, the fuel is just dribbled in. This results in poor and incomplete regens.

If it isn't performing successful regens make sure it isn't resulting in a plugged up DPF. A pile of incomplete regens means that not everything is being burnt out of your DPF.
We had one get clogged up on us and the turbo ended up going poof! all at the same time. Cummins 550 ISX. Can't really tell if it was related as we pretty much just got our hands on the truck but I can tell you one thing, this regen crap is a PITA. It's a good concept but crappy execution type of technology.DE36535 Thanks this. -
I think heavyd hit right on the head that injector is supposed to be cleaned every 100k and the dpf filters removed and cleaned every 250k we get in so many prostars with the same issue just cuz they havent been properly maintained
-
I'd say it wasn't properly designed ....... Or maybe more updates are needed ? lol -
If it is plugged or dirty and has the old gasket, cleaning should be covered under warranty. These injectors are actually pretty easy to take off even without draining the coolant. It takes longer to remove the fender to gain access than it takes to clean it. Not really a big deal.

My 2011 Volvo had a similar problem. Was asking for a parked regen every 30-200 miles. Not sure what the shop did but they fixed it.

Thanks everybody. After several messages with maintenance and my FM, I was told the other day I'd be routed through a terminal asap. But we all know what that's worth. I agree it's either the filter or injectors or a combination of both. By the way, the truck only has 213K miles on it.

I've seen those injectors cause problems from being dirty as early as 40K km!
angelor Thanks this. -
I have the same problem with 2007 freightliner w/ mercedes engine. Where is this injector? Regen was workin fine but now red light on and stranded. exhaust brake system so hot almost started fire
