You can get a local job right out of cdl school. Of course, that depends on what's available in your area.
Which town/city are you in Alabama?

 

There are home daily jobs in almost every city (food service, trash removal, beverage delivery, cement, dump truck, etc). Also what requirements for that job also determine of all the jobs in your area, which ones are suitabe for you. So, without hearing your list of requirements, and not knowing where you live, the answer is yes, there are some jobs available.

I would NOT go to CDL school until you have a particular job at a particular trucking company picked. You wouldn't buy a vehicle before you determine what you need it to do. The job that fits you may provide CDL school or only hire from certain CDL schools that meet certain requirements. Half of the companies hiring newbies offer Tuition Reimbursement to new-hires with OUTSTANDING student loans.

The city/state where you want to work is important for giving recommendations of trucking companies.
