For those of you who've bought a glider (Harrisons or Fitzgeralds) is the registration process any different than a factory built tractor? Does it come with an MSO or is it already titled?

Super easy. I had an MSO , registrared in Arizona and had zero issues. They have no idea its a glider to them it looks like I bought a 2012 freightliner.
Fitzgerald did offer to register in Tennessee first and give you an already done deal title but it cost a little extra so I didn't .Fitzgerald will tell you which states will hassle you with an MSO. -
I got a Harrison built glider and it was also an easy deal to get it registered. I was never even asked if it was a glider. It is essentially a 2013 truck and says so on the registration and the title. No mention anywhere it is a glider. It is not the state's concern (except California) that it is a glider. They just see a truck and revenue.

The VIN will show it's a glider whether or not the word glider is on the title.

Up here in Maine the only real headache would be the tax clerk requiring the MSRP to levy a tax that will depreciate over 10 years.

Thanks for the fast responses guys. The truck im looking at was built by Harrisons but for sale at another dealer out of state who buys in bulk from them. Asked the salesman about an MSO on it but he says it comes with a Iowa title from Harrisons. Kind of confused on that? Any ideas Cowpie?

True, but hardly anyone in trucking, let alone a motor vehicle office could tell you by looking at a VIN if it is a glider or not. And given that no one in the state office even asked, I doubt they really gave a rip if it was a glider or not. And the times I got inspected, no one even took the time to worry if it was a glider or not. And no... there is not a "G" in the VIN either. A totally different letter. In my case, and "X". And that is not even in the last 8 that I have on the side of the truck.
Savage, just not sure on your question. It probably does come with an Iowa title only because it was built by Harrison in Iowa. My guess is that whoever is buying in bulk, even a dealership, does it the same way as any other buyer. After all, the glider is coming from a dealer (Harrison) and not from the factory to the dealer you are buying from. It is not the same as a fully factory assembled vehicle like a pickup or a car that gets moved around from dealer to dealer. Harrison is building bulk orders for other dealerships and selling to them. Those dealerships are just reselling to you and others. -
Cowpie you beat me to it. My experience was identical.
Here we go again with all the misconceptions.... -
The last six digits of your VIN are the serial# portion, they don't denote a glider. Positions 2-8 of the VIN are where a glider is denoted.
We have two Pete Gliders, 1999 and a 2000, we built about 14 years ago. They both have 4 consecutive Gs in the VIN.
Enter your VIN here and see what it tells you.
