I have been looking at some tandem dump trucks to add a lift axle and make a tri axle.
Most of these trucks the bed is in the 15 ft range. There's plenty of room to put a lift axle, but the hydraulic Reservoir and the batteries need to be relocated.
I have a hydraulic reservoir from another truck that mounts behind the Hoist so that would be off the frame. So that leaves the batteries.
Is there someplace else that I could relocate the batteries?

Kenworth has a factory option to locate the battery box in-between the frame rails, behind the cab. Could always try and find a used box that'll fit in there.

Western Star could be spec’d with the batteries in a box as the base of the passenger seat. Definitely no air ride seat, and the battery box is vented outside.

That's an excellent answer thank you.

If you go that way, best to use sealed acid free battery (AGM) in case of rollover.

AS above PLEASE PLEASE use sealed acid free if in cab! ,its not a joke when you have to hear a friend screaming when he laid it on its side and the juice was dripping down on him till we kicked the screen out to get him.
spsauerland and uncleal13 Thank this.
