Does anyone using remote start for the truck? It would be nice to be able to warm the truck prior arrival to the parking lot.

Had one in my last truck. Loved it, it started the truck, raised the windows, locked the doors. I never took the key out of the ignition. Cause once truck was turned off, and a door was opened and closed, turning the key would not start the truck.

I've tried to convince my boss for years. The newer trucks have an option to install a module that will allow us set a temp. for automatic start, and it can supposedly be set for a specific days of the week, temp, and run time.

We have trucks that run on keyless start and remotes to lock and unlock doors. But not an ACTUAL remote start where you can start the truck up from a distance. I have one of those in my diesel pickup. It's very convenient during the winter months where you can warm up the truck and defrost the windshield before you head on out. It'll even shut off if you step on the brakes, in case someone tried to steal the vehicle. Factory didn't have an option for remote start for diesel pickups. So I had to get one from the aftermarket. Been using it for over 10 years now on my 5.9 Cummins.

Not a good idea with big trucks.
Now the Tahoe has it. Much good it does. It will be removed next shop visit to "Clean up" and idiot proof the wiring at the starter motor.Volvo8873 Thanks this. -

I'm kind of old school with my thoughts on this. Love the remote start in my pickup but I don't think it belongs in a truck. I like to be there to see there isn't 3 gallons of coolant leaked out on the ground under the truck and that it has oil pressure. Also to scare away any stray cats that might have decided to warm up by the block heater.

Want a warm truck, get an Espar heater for the truck.
