I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 5 years ago and have been on a cpap since. In the last year I have quit smoking and now have a gastric bypass surgery planned. I'm hoping to be able to retest for sleep apnea once I have lost significant weight. What I don't understand is what steps I will need to take. Can I just go to my family practice and request to be retested? Or do I have to wait for my dot physical and be sent to retest by them?

Talk to your family doctor about it. If you no longer have apnea (yea, like that's going to happen) just take that diagnosis to the dot physical with you.

Lol yeah if the weight loss and quitting smoking isn't enough I'm gonna look into the corrective surgery. I can't live with this mask anymore

I’ve been wondering about this. I have severe sleep apnea but I’ve lost 20 lbs so far. Hoping to lose another 80 lbs and see what happens.

im ready to lose this machine.
