Valid points. However, winding straps too often by hand (without mechanical assistance) whether on a winch or not can lead to overuse injuries. They're way more common then one would think. Something to keep in mind.

They'll start to care once the DOT starts handing out OOS tickets for straps that don't meet the criteria because paper logbooks aren't the easy ticket anymore.

From the sounds of it the elogs are going to be the easy tickets all they'll need is computer program to plug in and find each and every time you left the truckstop a minute too soon and when that's all there is that's what they'll give tickets for. No "trip planning" is not the answer to every reason most of us don't like elogs and neither is "Well you just can't make money running legal so you don't want to."

Thank Everyone for their input some very good answers I am a Florida sod hauler and I tarp and strap 9 straps 2-3 times a day just looking for something faster and easier!

I think you need another layer of tinfoil for your hat. I’m 5 years of running electronic I have never once had a DOT inspector hook up a computer to my log book.
