Why should a driver have to call a customer to get directions? Or better asked, why can't CSRs make #### sure that the driver is provided with a REAL and CORRECT pickup/delivery address? Why are some REAL and CORRECT pickup/delivery addresses only available to the driver through MAC 23, and why, would a "Best in Class" carrier shut down the MAC 23 and have it unavailable to drivers when that "Best in Class" carrier knows full well that the REAL and CORRECT pickup/delivery addresses for some customers is only available through MAC 23? Why are service failures given out by the very department that causes the service failure because of slip-shod communication? Frankly, I make enough mistakes on my own that lead to service failures. I don't need Swift CSRs helping me out in making further mistakes. Finally, it's embarrassing when receiving/shipping depts and/or security personnel summarily dismiss SSS (Stoopid Swift Stuff) or just laugh it off and mark it up to....."It's Swift, we're used to it".
"Best In Class" service is a pipe dream without "Best In Class" communication. And DRIVERS must be in the communication loop.
Thanks for letting me use your thread to vent some frustration.![]()

The phone numbers we get are usually wrong! There should be a macro for wrong contact info!! Then the people that can fix that can quit texting their friends, get off face book, playing the ponies and fix their laziness.JustSonny Thanks this. -
Yes, they probably would be incidents, except the first, which was backing. There was once a while back I was getting PO'ed at Swift, and Redd told me to just get a job elsewhere- he said I have the experience to move on. I told him that would be hard with 4 accidents. He asked me what they were, so I described each one, and he said those aren't accidents. He scoffed at Swift (Surprise!) for considering them as such. Of course, (disclaimer) he's a little biased. Yet, accidents they remain.

To both Edward and Oldnewbie: Man I KNOW a lot of this stuff is frustrating as hell. The equipment and technology are THERE and it is really stressful to see them not be used effectively.
But I remember the days of driving for a carrier that had no Qualcom, and back then I had no cell phone. So you looked around until you found a pay phone. End up calling your company for directions, which was usually an 800 number so it didn't cost anything but your time. Only THEY would give you the number of the shipper/receiver/whatever for YOU to call for directions. Where, of course, you would be put on hold for a bit, often for a LOT, and/or routed to half a dozen people before you could get your questions answered. And that WASN'T a toll free number, usually, so it DID cost you money.
Then the company would not reimburse you, because you "had no receipts to prove the expense."
Trucking has always been a aggravating business to be in. And I'm sure it always will be. You just have to learn to "go with the flow." Otherwise, you wind up giving yourself an ulcer over things you have no control over.JustSonny, Injun, 1nonly and 1 other person Thank this. -
they called my into the office and said if i wanted to stay on the dedicated account i was running that i had to take a $.05 base pay cut and my surcharge would be cut by $.10 per loaded mile and i would loose the west coast surcharge as well... so i walked out to MY truck and peeled their stickers off of it and took their plate off and went back inside that set them on the term managers desk and said good day gentlemen and took my truck and left
i guess what i am saying is you have to stand up for yourself and not let them walk all over you... i have never delivered a load late so let some one else do it..
just incase anyone is wondering i was not on the walmart accountTruckrsWife, biker dave and Les2 Thank this. -
And you weren't a L/O either! If they would have told a L/O that they would have to stay or get bad credit, and Swift chasing them for the rest of the lease.
Les2 Thanks this. -
This is very true... I remember swift saying they wanted to be 100% O/O in the future.. well with stunts like they pulled on me and i don't think they let any outside trucks lease on anymore (they loose some control that way) i don't see it ever happening but hey all in all they were a decent company
i was always paid on time and problems were delt with in a fast manner..scottied67 and biker dave Thank this. -
Swift is accepting outside trucks into the fleet.
-
glad to see they went back to that
-
you have to get into the truth in leasing act to get this part of it...
they can put an age limit on the tractor for you to initally lease on but once your truck is their it can stay for 40 years..
you some of the people that have been there awhile have trucks from the 90's and most of them do well
