Do road services really cost that much more than a shop? How have your experiences been getting service on the road?

We do road service for 65 and hour plus parts. Hours are charged port to port.

They charge a fee from the time they leave their shop til the time they arrive, time for work, then parts, labor and then the cost of time for them to drive back.

At least some of the stingy ones anyway...

That's pretty much the deal. We charge from the time we leave till we get back. We are 65 an hour at the shop as well. We have our own trucks to maintain and the customer trucks fill in the gap to keep my guys busy all the time so we help all our customers with a good rate and the vendors we use for parts and tires give us great prices because of the quantity we buy. I could probably go up on our rates but I would rather our customers come back over and over and grow their companies than get them once for a big bill.

We charge $200 flat rate. $1/mile. And then normal labor and parts.
