I have a question about roadside inspection. I just got one done. I passed it. The officer tho left a not so nice comment about a lane change. I swerved in my lane more then normal. It's embarrassing and I don't want my employer to see it. Question is if I passed the inspection/no violations do I need to still turn it in to my employer?

Thanks in advance for any advice

If it’s on the inspection report...they’ll see it either way

It is but what would happen if the report is "accidentally" misplaced and lost?

    A. Are you asking if the regulations require you to pass it to the company?
    B. Are you asking if your company policy is that the inspection report must be passed to the company?
    C. Are you asking if most drivers pass the inspection report to the company?

Think carefully about which question you want answered, they may not be the same answer. I'm not that smart so of the 3 questions I asked, are you asking A, B, or C? Don't reword my 3 questions, please. A. B, or C?

A: yeah I'm asking if by law if I have no violations do I need to submit to my employer and if I don't is there consequences.

B: I know what my company policy is. Not worried about them.

C: I guess yeah do drivers who pass road side always give the paperwork to the employer

Your Carrier most likely needs to sign and return it. They’ll need a copy for their records also.

Just tell your carrier ASAP and own it…why fret over it.

I’ve made those calls a few times before the ink dried on the report. I never once tried to hide them or make excuses. I believe being honest and direct means a lot to an employer.

    Good luck, drive safely!

Instructions on what to do with the report are clearly stated on the report. The officer should have explained what you need to do also.

Your Carrier has 15 days to sign and send back acknowledging that they received it.

Not doing so will result in the DOT taking other actions..like contacting your carrier.

    Numb and tscottme Thank this.

If there aren’t any violations they don’t need to sign anything or send anything back to the state.

I’m not sure what his company policy says, but like others have said I’m sure the company checks monthly or every couple months. Personally I send in clean inspections because the company I’m leased to gives you a few bucks for them.
