I've seen on Roehl's facebook page pics of Prostar's with the Skyrise sleeper (full condo) assigned to the flatbed division, are these trainer trucks or assigned to solo drivers?

How good is their medical and dental plan for a family?

Is the 2600-2800 miles per week my recruiter told me an accurate average?

How strict are they about idling in the summer/winter months?

Most of us have prostars and cascadias. Mostly single bunks. A newbie could be assigned a double, but its a crap shoot.
Medical and dental good. United Health and Delta Dental.
Those are Roehl goals for miles. It depends on season and fleet.
    I average 2000-2500
Full on idle prohibited in temperate months. Truck programed to idle in extreme temps.
Newer stars and freightliners have auto start and opti idle respectively.
They also have no idle climate controls.
This limits need to idle outside of winter....which increased idling is allowed for.

So they have the battery powered epu's for cooling and heat? What are their authorized fuel stops?

You will most likely get a midroof, they say the condos are only for the trainers.
on the flatbed side I'm not sure about miles, I drive van while I worked there and in the beginning it was no problem to get 2800++ a week, after a few months my miles dropped to a steady average of 2000. That equals NO MONEY.
in my opinion Roehl isn't necessarily a bad place to start, but not good either, they have very good training but once your on your own, your simply a number.
What area do you live? If you want flatbed and you have no experience try TMC, MELTON, BOYD, MAVRICK.

I'll be living in the Bristol, TN area. Melton and Maverick are my other choices, not interested in TMC or Boyd. That's why I wanted to ask on here to cut through the recruiter talk.

Living where you are, you will be running the middle states and east all of the time. You may get an odd run out west, but not often. Around here, most loads are only about 400-500 miles loaded. My miles on the flatbed national fleet is around 1800 ish a week average. Some weeks I only have 800 miles on a check others 3000, but more poor weeks than good. I find that pretty well on par with most people I talk to who run this side of the country. To run over here flatbed, you need to run percentage to make it worth it as freight generally pays pretty good. If you aren't interested in tmc, check out pgt trucking out of monaca, pa. I see their trucks all the time out in ky/tn so there should be little issue with hometime. They start at 25% and you can work your way up to 28%. If they'll have me, I'm thinking of giving tmc a shot. Every driver I talk to says the same time, "they are very particular, but I can put up with a lot if the moneys right, and the money is right." And they all seem generally happy.

Example of the % working to your advantage. My last load was 649 miles (granted was a canada load) I got to see the costs. Shipping was 1200 ish dollars. 25% of that is $400. With my current mileage, tarp pay and the border crossing bonus, I made $289 on that load.

Thanks, I'm going to talk to a recruiter today from PGT. I have had shoulder surgery on both shoulders, and TMC won't let me know if they'll hire me until I get to Des Moines. So far, Roehl and Maverick will take me as I am with a release from my doctor and the supporting medical documents.

    Dark Squall Thanks this.

Sad what i'm hearing about Roehl based off this forum. The general consensus is that they treat you great to start off running the miles but the second you start getting tenured and hitting those pay increases the miles start to drop. Looks like i'll be applying to TMC, or Schneider for my first job after school.

I can't speak for everybody, but my experience with Roehl has been fantastic. I get 3000 miles every week, and have been higher on several occasions. I'm van on the National fleet. I haven't had any problems with any of my fleet managers. The equipment is top notch and they are a huge believer in safety. People have different experiences no matter where you go, but I for see myself being with Roehl for a long time.

Biggest issue I had with FM, is when he went on vac....loads got chaotic and badly planned.
He's back and all is well again.
