I hope I'm making the right decision. Roehl hired me for refer. They claim they barely do overnight driving. I've never heard of that before with refer. I'm not sure if it's in my best interest to wait for things to go back to "normal" or go to this orientation Monday. I'm waiting on unemployment decision. I qualify. I think most people do right now. I don't want to sit at home doing nothing but the unemployment may pay more than Roehl. I've been having companies call me and say "i received your application but we're not hiring right now, we'll keep it on file" they claim it's because of covid. This week K&B and Roehl offered me employment and K&B's reviews were so bad i declined. Roehl though...facing camera until i prove I'm a responsible driver. This will be my 3rd company in 14 months if i go to orientation Monday. I'm not liking this jumping around at all. I backed into another semi last June. That's why I'd have the camera with Roehl. I wonder if i should wait for unemployment and find a company in June when that incident is a year old. I'd appreciate some unprejudiced, honest advice. I'm the farthest from a lazy person. Not trying to get out of work. Just want some ideas. I want to make sure I'm making the right decision for myself. Thanks
Also, is there an decrease in safety right now? I keep getting alerts of trucking robberies.

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.

If you collect un-employment you have to look for a job and document it, so, in your case, you would look, then get hired, right ? Just as you have been with Roehl. You do want to have a continuous employment streak without breaks.

You don't right now because of covid. Because of COVID you do not report job searching at this time. For the first time in unemployment history i believe.

However i see what you mean. I think I'd tell employers "hey i wanted to wait until that accident fell off so that i could get better offers" ??

When did you apply for unemployment? How long have you been out of work?

well then it's your decision. I would take the Roehl job. You're already doing the job hopping and with an un-employed gap in there it doesn't look good .

I take you got laid off at the job you just had then? If so yes you'll be eligible for unemployment. I'd be pretty sure on that. Who else did you apply at and where are you located? Chinatown will probably stop by soon.

If you can land ANY JOB during this crisis, I’d take it! I just drove last night through a part of the country where every truck stop is typically full by 6pm. As I continue to drive until almost midnight I noticed every truckstop was empty. I like some of the loves and pilots and such were a little busier, but the independent stops that usually are full had just a couple trucks in them. Layoffs are coming and things will get far worse before they get better.

News starting to come out that the body doesn’t eradicate this virus, it acts like HIV and can reactivate later. Also, scientists are suspecting that we may not develop immunity to it. If either or both of these things are true we are looking at an entirely different world going forward.
