I'm on the fence about taking a job driving a roll off truck hauling construction dumpsters and getting out of the truck for awhile. I'v been burned out on driving a co truck for some time now, been wanting to buy one again but timing is bad.
anyways I have hauled to landfills before but in a live floor semi trailer not the roll offs. Jobs seems easy they have auto tarps and don't require the driver to maintain trucks like allot of these places do. Excellent bennies and pay is decent at $15 hr during training, and after training it goes to a per hour plus mileage rate that can range from $15 to about $23hr depending ho fast you are. and a good monday through friday 50 to 60 hours. believe it or not that is great pay for this area when most local stuff pays $10 an hour and wants you to start work at 4am. TX doesn't have state income tax so that helps.
So it sounds decent but we all know how wrong things can be made to look. So anyone have any information that hould sway my decision?

Some of those outfits may make you do your own grease jobs. I hated that, especially when the construction company I was working for would not provide a decent tool with which to do that.

I've always greased my own trucks. Everytime I took them to get serviced they either didn't grease it at all or just greased what was easy to get to.

Here's another question. What type of hoist system do their trucks use? You have the military-style hoist where you don't have to get out of the truck, and the mast-and-cable system where you have to get out and hook the cable to the dumpster.

When I went for the interview the trucks I saw there had the cable. Not the greatest trucks. the ones left siting in the yard were an older gmc/volvo that was in nice shape and the other was a mack that has seen better days. The front fender had a big ##### missing and the bumper was pushed back to the tire. I think that truck was the reason they are looking for a new driver.

I ran a T-800 and a old mack roll off. Both cable trucks. Not too bad.

I think I'm going to take it. well if I have it anyways! lol.
the lady talked like I already have the job but never officially said it. I told her I was ready to start like last week and she said I could start as early as tuesday and that she would call monday so We'll see if I get that call I guess. She wants me to start so soon that she is going to run me though a temp agency for the first week since they won't have my employment checks back by the time I want to start. Not real hot on the temp thing but it was my choice I could wait untill they get my stuff cleared but I'm broke and need a check
