Why would kerosene harm a fuel pump? Dynamart in Lewiston ID would blend kerosene into their fuel for their winter blend and we’d all top off there before heading back to Montana.

Straight kerosene probably doesn’t lubricate as well as #2 diesel, but they can add a lubricity additive. Kwik Trip sells winterized premium diesel with anywhere from 10-30% #1 fuel mixed in. I think the only difference between kerosene and “#1 diesel” is an additive package that makes it more suitable for engines rather than lanterns or torpedo heaters.

You wouldn’t be blending in enough kerosene to have any ill effects. Before DPF trucks we’d blend in gas if we couldn’t find any #1, we let the diesel pump run until it clicked off, then instead of topping it up with diesel we’d put around 5-8 gallons of gas in because it would keep wax from forming.
