I would like to ask you a serious question, if I may.
Did Jesus take days off during His time on this earth?
I'm sure that He did have some days to just relax, but did He ever refuse to work on a certain day of the week?
Did He ever say to someone..."Sorry, but today I am not allowed to help you"
?
Of what religion was Jesus?
For the Life of me, I can not think of any time or passage that was mentioned in the Bible that He did so.
Please enlighten me if you know of one.
Many, if not most, of the rules layed down in so many religions have nothing to do with what is actually written of the words of Jesus. They were rules added later for no apparent reason except to control the movements and actions of others by the 'religious leaders'.
I am a Christian by faith.
But I refuse to follow rules set down by people that simply want to invent and make a certain flavor of Christianity in their own twisted image.
And every 'Christian' religion, from the Catholic Church to the present has done just that.
Didn't Jesus once say, referring to the rules of food, that it is not what you put into your mouth that makes you unclean - it is what comes out of your mouth that makes you unclean.
In one sentence He abolished every rule forbidding one from eating of anything that was, before then, unclean.
Well, I don't think the Lord minds it that I am driving a truck on that day of the week.
It does not go against God's will that I help people whenever I can, no matter what day of the week it is.
At least in my opinion - which is sometimes not that humble.

I'm a local driver with Friday to Sunday off but even with that I still need to be available on those days if they need me. It is expected of me.

He did not. See John 5:16 as just one example, the healing of the lame man by the pool in Jerusalem:
For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.Mike2633, KeithT1967, Moosetek13 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Ill say this…..
What was the intent of the sabbath?
What was the importance of the sabbath?
How to apply the application of the sabbath?
Not gonna get into what day was the sabbath……
If your speaking law, then the law allowed for works of good on the sabbath. Clearly there was room for charity/piety work to be done on the sabbath. Also Clearly Jesus wants us to understand the importance of rest.
I can type a lot more on this subject but, why do so? If the OP feels he wants to shut down during those times then so be it. Is an online post by some random guy gonna give him intuition as to what to do? Probably not……
The sabbath was made for man(see above about the importance of rest) man was not made for the sabbath..pretty much sums up everything posted here!!! -
