Hello, I am looking at Savage Services out of Elko, NV and was hoping someone here may have insight about what it's like working for them. Bonus if you're from the Elko terminal. Positive and negative reviews appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I worked for them out of Colorado many years ago and it was a great company.

What was the best part about working with them in your opinion? I'm looking for a local home daily company in the northern region of Nevada I can work at till I can't work no more I've seen a lot of varying reviews on indeed. Thanks for the reply.

Where i was located, had a great boss, some good people, consistent work, good pay, good benefits, I worked 6 on 3 off (home every night) the equipment was taken care of, when I went to salt lake for one of their training deals it didnt feel like a big company. But this was about 7 or 8 years ago.

Yeah seems like they're quite large now with terminals all over the US. Big companies always get me sketched out when looking to work for them but what they're advertising on paper looks good. But I guess if it didn't work out the pneumatics and LCV experience will be good on my resume. Thanks for the insight and quick response.

I thought about applying with them, but Elko is too small of a town for me. I know Savage mostly services the mines in Northern Nevada. Hauling rocky mountain doubles tankers. Side note, if you ever decide to leave Savage for another local company. Nevada is a very competitive state for cdl jobs, mainly Reno and Vegas. I have yet to be able to get a local job in Vegas or Reno not even Class B jobs.

That's good to know and not the first time I've heard that the market is very competitive in NV. I have always wanted to live in Nevada since I first visited as a kid the majority of my family is in the Reno/Sparks area. Do most people consider Savage a starting company?

I would say yes, because they only require 6months of Class A experience. How much experience do you have?

I have been driving for 5 years and pulling tanks for almost 3. I don't have any pneumatics or LCV experience however.

Nice, same exact experience as me. If that tells you anything about how competitive the market is here. If you have time, I would take a trip out to Elko, check out the town and surrounding area and see if you like it first before you make that commitment. Also, Maverik gas station is hiring for a fuel driver in Elko if you want to do fuel.
